ON Saturday, the first team played against Llantwit Major in their third and final WBA cup game.

On a sunny afternoon, the men were in fine form, gaining a victory by 98 shots to 50. Mal Hope, Steve Ellard, David Rees and Graham Carlisle 29-15. Richard Flitney, Pete Morrish, Ian Paterson and Matthew Woodcock 17-16, a match only won by a superb final delivery from the skip. Mike Matthews, Mike Lloyd-Jones, Paul Gunter and Tony Holmes 29-12. Charlie Lewis, Clive Palfrey, Rod Hudson and Ken McLeod 31-7.

Meanwhile on the adjoining green, the PG2 team entertained near neighbours Rectory Road. The visitors however were not in a very neighbourly mood on the green and deservedly won by 83 shots to 61. Paul Parker, Tim White, Brian Rogers and Dave Howells 7-35.

Bryn Peregrine, John Hardess and Phil Gooding 14-27. Tommy Owens, Roger Ellis, Tom Evans and Dave Hales 12-16. Victory at least on one rink in the shape of Dave Johnson, Alan Dudley, Mike Cuccinello and Captain Latham by 26-5.

Belle Vue were the very welcome visitors for the midweek Munroe Cup match but the game was very one-sided as they struggled to cope with a very strong Windsor performance and a lightning fast green.

All rinks were won comfortably by Windsor and the result was a somewhat overwhelming scoreline of 119-31.

It was back to normal for the Alliance team as they fell to defeat away at Mackintosh. It was a bitter pill to swallow after their historic victory the previous week against Cardiff Athletic. Mike Fullbrook, Paul Parker, Hugh Morris and Keith Williams 17-18. Tommy Owens, Peter Collier, David Johnson and David Lewis 16-19.

Dave Brenton, Alan Davies, Tim White and Dave Howells 13-13. David Adams, Martin Dorrell, Ian Mathias and John Hardess 7-15. A loss by 12 shots but a typically spirited performance.

For the Evening League match, the Ladies gave an excellent performance against a very strong Murch team but eventually went down by just 5 shots. Carole Lewis, Mary Scarrett, Veronica Flitney and Di Thomas 13-15. Ann Morrish, Mary Huntley, Di Ellard and Di Roper 14-17.

Despite winning two of the three rinks in the Afternoon League match at Rectory Road, the overall shot score went in favour of the home side.

Carole Lewis, Brenda Dunlop, Di Roper and Veronica Flitney 14-13, victory coming thanks to skip Flitney’s final shot. Ann Morrish, Sharon Paterson, Liz Lewis and Chis Davies 16-12. Sue Howells, Mary Scarrett, Lars White and Di Thomas 8-23. It was a disappointing result after last week’s momentous win on all rinks away at Penylan.
