ONLY two out of the three fixtures arranged for this week were played.

In the Afternoon League Penylan Bowling Club were unable to find sufficient players for the required three rinks and unfortunately had to concede the match points to the Murch Ladies.

In the Evening League, Murch v Windsor 21st May proved to be a very keenly contested game throughout with Murch ladies finally managing to edge a very narrow win on both rinks.

Skip M. Clake’s team of S. Blainey, G. Hughes and S. Mauchline won - 15 shots -13, and skip C. Tranter’s team of A. Orchard, A. Croom and E. Carryer won - 17 shots – 14, giving an overall score of 32-27, a hard fought narrow win for Murch ladies playing away.

In the Ladies Double Rink, Murch v Whitchurch 22nd May.

Murch Ladies entertained the Cardiff Club at home and proved to be much too strong for a team already depleted, being a player short. Rink 2 had to forfeit a quarter of their score. Skip P. Goode and players C. Hougardy, C. Russell and A.

Orchard had an easy win of 19 shots to 8 ¼ while on rink 1 Skip P. Ayres and S. Wade, M. Rice and K. Macleod found their opposition greatly disadvantaged by the heat, allowing them to score 60 shots.

The overall score was Murch 79 shots, Whitchurch 12 ¼ .
