IT was a return to winning ways for Penarth as they won away at Malpas by 14 runs.

Having been put in by the hosts, the bears were bowled out for 199 with one ball to spare.

Richard Skone’s unbeaten 43 was the highlight of the Penarth innings.

In reply, Malpas fell just short as they were all out for 185 with three overs to spare as Ryan Sylvester (3-29) and Richard Skone (3-26) did the damage.

The seconds were also victorious as they saw off Malpas at home by eight wickets.

The bears were asked to bowl first and Malpas were skittles out for 105 in the 31st over.

Tom Pascoe’s 3-25 and Tim Miller’s 3-22 led the way for the Penarth bowlers.

In reply, 33 not out from James Erasmus and 25 not out from Llyr Morris saw the bears home after 17 overs.

The thirds won by three wickets as they travelled away to Ton Pentre.

Having won the toss, the bears bowled first and restricted the hosts to 116 all out in the 34th over with Keith James starring with an impressive 4-14 and 2-35 for Zac Essenhigh.

In reply, Penarth just got home after 31 overs with Ian Summerfield too scoring with 20.

The fourths however were beaten by seven wickets as they hosted Llantwit Fardre.

The visitors inserted Penarth who were bowled out for 161 with two balls to spare.

Opener Nick Viner top scored with 56.

In reply, Llantwit Fardre reaches their target in the 23rd over.

Malpas conceded the Cup game on Sunday so Penarth progress to the next round.
