WITH Sully Bowling Club’s green in great condition thanks to the work of the village ground staff it was a week they had been looking forward to as there where to be two local derbies against the Sports club.

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon the two rink Alan Martin Cup match was played.

In a very even match with one rink each, the village side managed to hold on for a narrow win and progress to the next round.

Come Wednesday and it was the four rink Munro Cup game and by now with no rain to talk of the green was as fast as it has been for some time.

At 5 ends Sports where 4 up on the boards but by 10 ends it had swung in the village favour by 2.

It stayed very tight till the last 3 ends when the rink of E Pryer J Hubbard P Neale D Hotchkiss took 10 shots to ease the villagers to a 69-60 win so the double was achieved.

On Saturday the bread and butter league matches continued with the visit of Millwood to a green so much faster than their own and it is probably fair to say that they struggled with the pace of the green.

Enough to say all 4 rinks where up and a good 14 point win was had. S Phillips A Rees T Murphy F Phillips 18-6 B Curtis P Neale M Hardy D Hotchkiss 22-15 G John R Fitzjohn A Thomas D Curtis 23-14 D Curtain J Bryan A Smith B Griffiths 22-18 85-53.

This week the villagers were away on Wednesday to the Murch and on Saturday away again to Llantwit Major.
