PENARTH’S cricketers fell to defeat by 68 runs in their top of the table clash at home to Clydach.

The visitors posted 281-7 from their 50 overs with 95 from 118 balls from opener Sam Davies and 53 off 68 from captain James Garland.

Alex Langrish was the pick of the Penarth bowlers with 2-48 with Ryan Sylvester, Morgan Humphreys, Tom Sidford and Richard Skone all picking up a wicket each.

In response, the bears were bowled out for 213 after 44 overs.

Ryan Sylvester hit 45 off 57 and Richard Skone 42 off 66 but 5-25 from Jack Todd helped the visitors record an impressive win.

The seconds also lost as they went down by three wickets at Port Talbot Town.

Batting first, the Bears were bowled out for 198 in the 46th over with Gareth Jenkins top scoring with 66.

In reply, the hosts reached their target with 15 overs to spare thanks in part to 57 from Jack Underwood and an unbeaten 49 from Callum Beynon.

Tim Miller took 3-27 and there were two wickets each for Nathan Piddock and Morgan Crimp.

But there was better news for the thirds who won comfortably at Upper Rhondda.

Penarth made 199-6 off their 40 overs with Nick Viner hitting 97.

Upper Rhondda were bowled out for just 83 in the 28th over as Keith James bagged 4-22 with Mark Frost and Matthew Birch getting two each and Mark Thomas picking up one on his return from a long term injury as Penarth won by 116 runs.

But the fourths fell to an eight wicket loss away at Bay Dragons.

Batting first, Penarth were bowled out for 191 with two balls to spare as wicket keeper Matthew Frost hit 56.

But in reply, the hosts knocked off the runs after 31 overs as Mubashar Tariq hit an unbeaten 55, Rabi Golam an unbeaten 43 and Nayem Rahman Miah Chowdhury hit 44.

This Saturday the firsts travel to Newport Fugitives and the seconds host Newport Fugitives.

The thirds go to Radyr and the fourths are at home to Newport Fugitives.

On Sunday, the firsts host Neyland in the Welsh Cup.
