PENARTH’S cricketers recorded another win last weekend as they beat Malpas at home by 36 runs.

Having chosen to bat first, the bears hit 240-6 from 50 overs with Jack Thomas’ 77 and Richard Skone’s 57 leading the charge.

They bowled their visitors out for 204 in the 48th over despite 79 from opener and Malpas skipper Michael Martin.

Will Skone starred with 4-40 and Ali Bukkhari with 3-33 as Penarth ran out the victors.

But the seconds were beaten as they fell to a 65-run defeat at Malpas.

The Bears chose to bowl first and the hosts were bowled out for 214 in the 47th over with Morgan Crimp taking an unbelievable 7-41.

But Penarth were all out for 149 in the 43rd over despite 57 from opener James Erasmus.

The third team lost a close one as they were beaten by four wickets at home to Ton Pentre.

Penarth chose to bat first and reached 157-6 from 40 overs in large part thanks to Daniel Thacker’s 72.

But Ton Pentre reached the required target with five balls to spare despite 2-26 for Matthew Birch and 2-15 from Mark Thomas.

The fourths game away at Llantwit Fardre was called off after the home side conceded the match.

Next up the firsts travel to Llanelli and the seconds host Newport.

The thirds travel to Christchurch and the fourths host Abercynon.
