GLAMORGAN captain Colin Ingram sparkled for the Welsh county, along with all-rounder Graham Wagg, as they won yet another dramatic T20 match at Sophia Gardens.

Ingram smashed 89 from just 47 balls to propel the hosts to 198/7 before Michael Hogan kept his nerve to seal a six-run win over Essex Eagles as they made it four wins on the bounce.

Glamorgan will be looking to further boost their Vitality Blast qualification bid when they host Hampshire in another attractive Friday night clash in Cardiff this weekend.

“We’re really glad to get the job done because I thought it was a good total on the board,” said Ingram.

“A couple of guys really played well at the back end to get us there and we showed good spirit in the field to get the win.”

Ingram missed two matches last week through illness but has hit the ground running since his return to the side, hitting 46 not out on Sunday against Middlsex before his innings last night.

The skipper was delighted with his form but also paid tribute to the contributions of Wagg and Ruaidhri Smith who combined to strike 60 runs from the final three overs of the Glamorgan innings.

“I tried to keep it quite simple and they bowled a few in the right areas and I got some momentum. I’ve really enjoyed playing here over the last couple of years so it was good to get out there again.

“We were losing a couple of wickets but Graham played beautifully when he came in and he formed a good partnership with Ruaidhri Smith.”

Despite having to chase 199 to win, Essex Eagles found themselves needing just eight runs from the final two balls, before Michael Hogan stepped up to seal victory for Glamorgan with two pinpoint yorkers.

“T20 is all about hanging in there and small margins,” added Ingram. “Hoges wasn’t missing by very much but they were going out of the ground so it was a pressure moment but we came through those tight moments.

“There’s been a couple of those games at home we’ve come through well so you bank those experiences and hopefully it will be calmer next time."
