PENARTH Cricket Club’s Second XI cricketers won their league despite the weather playing having with fixtures last weekend.
The Seconds took on Newport at home and bowled their visitors out for 92 with Andy Graveson (3-26), Tom Pascoe (3-39) and Mark Thomas (3-13) starring with the ball.
The game was abandoned with Penarth on 1-0 in the third over but the Bears were able to celebrate winning the second XI Premier East Division
The Firsts lost by just nine runs on the Sunday at home to Neyland despite their Saturday fixture against Llanelli being called off.
Neyland were bowled out for 142 from 28 overs with Richard Skone taking 4-30 and Morgan Humphreys 2-33.
In reply, the Bears fell agonisingly short despite 40 from Richard Skone.
There was no action for the Thirds or Fourths last weekend.
This weekend the Firsts host Panteg and the Seconds go to Panteg.
The Thirds go to Lisvane and the Fourths welcome Cynon Valley.
