Penarth Windsor LTC Men's 1sts 8
Aberystwyth LTC Men's 1sts 1
AFTER suffering narrow defeat in the season opener to Bridgend, Penarth Windsor LTC men's 1st team fielded a strong side to take on a young Aberystwyth.
Unfortunately the match was uneven from the start after Aberystwyth failed to bring a third doubles pair to the court. This gave Windsor a 3-0 lead from the offset and with both home pairs winning their opening matches easily, a 9-0 scoreline looked on the cards. The final score was 8-1 to Windsor.
Premier 3 was always going to be a tough league this year in terms of the travel with away trips to Aberystwyth and Aberaeron beckoning.
It looked like the travel had taken its toll on Aberystwyth as the Windsor men strolled into a 7-0 lead. Some pride was restored in the final round of matches as the Aberystwyth top seeds finally ground out a consolation result in the humid weather to what was a very satisfying first victory for the Windsor men.
Windsor team: Adamson, Cole, Hamrouni, Catterson, Hughes, Richards.
Penarth Windsor LTC Ladies 1sts 4
David Lloyd 2nds 2
Windsor ladies, looking for their second win of the season, started off in emphatic style with the youthful pair of Rees and Pilcher winning both their matches with ease.
With the David Lloyd 2nds looking past their sell by date, Windsor went on to record a comfortable 4-2 victory to leave the Windsor ladies firsts with an unbeaten start to the season in the Premier 2 division.
Whitchurch LTC 3rds 0
Penarth Windsor LTC Men's 2nds 6
After injuries contributed to last year's relegation season, Windsor men's 2nd team gave Whitchurch 3rds what can only be described as a tennis lesson.
Adamson, in his first game of the season, started with 3 aces in the first 3 points - it set the tone for what was a very quick round of games as Windsor showed no mercy to their opponents, who were promoted from division 4B last year.
As a Friday night game, only 6 rounds were played and the balanced team captained by Ian Gwyn-Hughes strolled to an easy victory.
Windsor 2nds continue their unbeaten start to the season having lost only 1 round out of 12 so far.
