CWM WELFARE 1 COGAN CORONATION 1
A GOOD performance by Cogan ended in disappointment as the home side equalised in the last minute.
On a heavy pitch with a strong wind, it was never going to be a game of great football.
Cogan started the game well and managed to keep the majority of possession despite the difficult conditions.
There were few chances at either end, however with ten minutes remaining in the first half Liam Jones ran on to a long clearance, avoiding the offside. He rounded the advancing keeper and calmly finished from an acute angle.
In the second half Cogan played against the wind and despite continued attacks from the home side, they remained well organised and disciplined.
Having 'weathered the storm', Cogan started to regain control and with five minutes to go, substitute Nathan Self, worked hard in the opposition area and managed to crossed the ball to Grant Beedell who took a touch and shot fron five yards out. The ball struck the face of the crossbar and bounced over.
The home side continued to press and in the last minute they were awarded a disputed free kick 25 yards out.
The ball was struck towards the near post and debutant keeper Hussey seemed to lose his bearings and the ball bounced into the Cogan net to make the final score 1-1.
