NOT for the first time in this 'glorious' British summer, Sully Centurions Cricket Club's games were hit by the weather at the weekend, with the 1st and 4th XI matches on Saturday and Sunday being cancelled.
The 2nd XI managed half a game at Sully on Saturday where, replying to Bridgend's 180 for seven, the home side were 33 for two when the heavens opened.
Thanks to the excellent work of Lawrence and the Vale groundsman, the 3rd XI also managed half a game and were in a strong position against a Panteg side containing a majority of their 2nd XI. Panteg were all out for 138 and Centurions were 23 without loss in reply.
This Sunday at Sully (1.30pm start) Sully will be hoping for plenty of support when they entertain Cardiff in the quarter-finals of the Welsh Cup.
On Monday Centurions entertain Warwick University (Sully at 2pm). Will all players ring Dave Sylvester on 029 2053 0896 (evenings) or 07717 864694 if they are available.
