Four out of four for Penarth Windsor LTC Ladies
7:00am Thursday 2nd August 2012 in Sport
ALL four of the Penarth Windsor LTC Ladies teams have won promotion in this year's Courtstall Doubles South Wales league.
After 12 weeks of constant competitive matches the 2nds and 4ths have topped their divisions with the 1st and 3rd teams gaining the second placed promotion position.
Ladies Captain Gwenda Davies said: "We're all thrilled and delighted with the end results. The teams have all been strengthened this year with the introduction of a few new key players to the the club and the growing stature of the youth development system ensuring the teams will remain strong for the foreseeable future.
"I'd like to thank all team captains Bethan Pilcher, Alison Ray, Kay Clarke and Sian Owen as well as everyone who played, supported and helped out this year, congratulations to you all. "A lot of talk has been given to the Mens 1st team who are now playing in Premier 1, South Wales' highest league, but I think these results show that it is us Ladies who have quietly got on with the job and had the best results overall for the club! Well done Ladies."
Club Chairman Jason Richards said: "Together with the mens 4th team winning promotion and three of the other four teams remaining in their divisions, this has been an incredibly strong set of results for the club.
"A lot of credit must go to the Ladies and Mens Captains, Gwenda Davies and Dan James, as well as everyone who has played team tennis this year.
"The club has been going from strength to strength for a number of years and I must also credit previous captains and committees for setting some strong foundations for the club, and the current captains and committee for building on the success and taking the club forward.
"We have a lot still going on with further developments planned to improve the club facilities and a full programme of tennis competitions and social events to take us right through the year."
