PENARTH and Dinas Runners competed in the Tydfilian Roman Run on the weekend.

Five runners from the club took part in the 16-mile route from Brecon to Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday (August 25). The runners were lucky with the weather, with the sun coming out and only a light breeze during the run.

Malcolm Bradley, Anna Helsing, Sara El-khatib, Lisa Cleary and Yvonne Williams all took part in the run.

The tough run included 2,070 feet of climbing, with the start of the race at 430ft and the finish at 715ft. The route also ranged from 500ft to 1500ft above sea level.

Malcolm Bradley, who burnt off 1,600 calories during the run and knocked five minutes off his time from last year, finished in a time of 2hours 22minutes.

Penarth and Dinas Runners meet every Monday evening at Penarth Leisure Centre at 7pm.
