ARSENAL midfielder Aaron Ramsey will miss Ryan Giggs' first matches in charge of Wales after being omitted from the squad for the China Cup.

Giggs said Ramsey is set to have a "small procedure" during the international break.

Gareth Bale is in the squad along with uncapped Brentford defender Chris Mepham, while Connor Roberts, Billy Bodin and Michael Crowe receive first calls.

Everton defender Ashley Williams is set to continue as Wales captain.

West Bromwich Albion striker Hal Robson-Kanu is also absent, as is Reading midfielder David Edwards and Sheffield United winger David Brooks, who is recoving from glandular fever.

Edwards has retired from international football after winning 43 caps since his debut in 2007.

Giggs also confirmed Osian Roberts, Tony Roberts, Albert Stuivenberg and Tony Strudwick as his coaching team.
