A GIRLS football team are toasting a “super season” - after finishing third in the South Wales Girls League in just their second year.

Sully Girls FC U12s finished behind only Troedyrhiw and Cardiff City in the league of 19 teams from across the South Wales region - which club chairman Vincent Malfatti called an outstanding achievement.

“It’s a remarkable turnaround from our inaugural season last year, where we finished in the lower ranks of the league,” he said.

“Sully Girls FC would like to say a huge thank you to all of the parents who supported the team this season, and an even bigger thank you to all the girls who represented Sully Girls FC so enthusiastically.”

As a result of the success the club has now formed a new team.

“Most of the girls in the U12s will now be moving up together to the newly-formed U14s team at Sully," he added.

"They have been proudly sponsored by RIM Motors of Cardiff Road, Barry - we are very grateful for their contribution.”

This seasons’s Sully Girls U12s were Tia Morgan, Mackenzie Ott, Gaby Cates, Naomi Hills, Rebecca Johnson, Kathryn Morgan, Ellie Abbott, Seren Marsh, Jodie Knight, Caitlin Thomas, Grace Samuel, Evie Brown, Stephanie Knight, Georgia Webber, Taylor Gratton, Rosie Peterson, Ffion Thomas and Alicia Malfatti.

Any girls interested in joining Sully Girls FC at ages U10s, U12s or U14s should contact club chairman Mr Malfatti on 07977 237799, or club secretary and U10s coach Kelly Toshack on 07971 677530.

“Football is fast becoming a major sport for girls and we at Sully would like to be at the forefront in the Vale of Glamorgan,” added Mr Malfatti added.
