JACK Sellick rowed in style over the 1,000 metre course at the recent Llandaff Regatta, to win his first ever regatta at J18 skull open level.
He beat Monmouth School in the semi final and won by two lengths in the final against Bristol City rowing club.
Jack’s dedication and training paid off, and it was a double celebration as it was his 18th birthday!
Penarth Rowing Club had seven entries in the prestigious regatta and the newly named Wynne Evans made its first appearance on both Saturday (1000m) and Sunday (500m).
The J14 4x+ crew appeared in two finals, rowing against Monmouth School J1 (Saturday) and Hereford Cathedral School (Sunday).
Penarth were not victorious this time but rowed well. The crew were Rhys Savoury Bow, Gabriel Ackerman 2, Matt Holder 3, Issac Ridgely Stroke and coxed by Jane Evans.
Meanwhile, the ladies novice 2x won its semi final against Bristol City B but lost to Bristol City A in the final.
