PENARTH and Dinas Runners scooped prizes at the Run Wales Series awards ceremony last month.

Runners Lisa Cleary, Andrea Hurman, Malcolm Bradley and Yvonne Williams all took home accolades after finishing the race series in the top three of their age categories.

Malcolm Bradley scooped 1st in the Men Masters 60 category, while Lisa Cleary and Andrea Hurman were crowned 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Women Masters 45 category, and Yvonne Williams finished 2nd in the Women Masters 55 age category.

Lisa Cleary and Andrea Hurman were also 4th and 7th women overall.

All four attended the prestigious ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff on Tuesday, November 26.

The Run Wales Series is made up of the following races: Nos Galan 5k, Lliswerry 8 Mile, Nick Beer 10k, Welsh Road Relays, Teifi 10 Mile, Cardiff Bay 5 Mile, Magor Marsh 10k, Llanelli Fusion 5k, Caernarfon 10k, Cardiff 10k, Swansea Bay 10k and Cardiff Half Marathon.

Malcolm scored points in the following races Nos Galan 5k, Cardiff Bay 5 Mile, Magor Marsh 10k and Lanelli Fusion 5k. Lisa scored points in Nos Galan, Welsh Road Relays, Cardiff Bay 5 Mile, Llanelli Fusion 5k and Caernarfon 10k. Andrea scored points in Nos Galan, Welsh Road Relay, Magor Marsh 10k, Llanelli 5k, and Caernarfon 10k, while Yvonne scored points in the Welsh Road Relays, Magor Marsh 10k and Caernarfon 10k.

On Sunday, December 8, Penarth and Dinas Runners also took part in a Gwent League Cross Country fixture at Bath University.

The women's race consisted of three small laps of a field, with a few gradual inclines and declines, in a 5.9k race, while the men's race consisted of one small lap and three large laps of the same field in a 10.3k race.

In the women's race Debbie Evans was the first woman to finish from Penarth, followed by Andrea Hurman, Louise Hunt, Lindsey Hunt, Claire Phillips, Jane Blethyn and Anna Helsing, all scoring points for the running club.

Richard Jackson-Hookins was the first man from Penarth to finish, followed by Clem Clement, Chris Seal, Chris Nellins (who got into the festive spirit by wearing a Santa hat and jingling bells), Malcolm Bradley and Andrew Palmer.

Penarth and Dinas Runners meet every Monday evening at Penarth Leisure Centre.
