DESPITE having their final Welsh Soccer League match called off due to a waterlogged pitch on Saturday, the Dinas Powys Football Club senior team got together for their awards evening.

Held in the Three Horseshoes public house, spirits were soon raised with a few drinks and individual awards went to James Blxoham (players' player), Ryan Garland (clubman) and Ronan Scott (penalty king).

A club spokesman said: "We are very lucky to have such a young and talented squad of players and a number of them went close to winning the players' player award."

Extending a big thank you to all the committee members and the unseen people behind the scenes, the spokesman added: "One person, in particular, we are very lucky to have is Bryn Morgan, who is a legend with lads. On match days, Bryn works at the gate, sells programmes and, occasionally, hunts in the bushes for balls! He is a true Dinas FC character who is great to have around."

The club has undergone a huge change in recent months and has taken big strides, firstly by welcoming back the supporters' club and, more importantly, seeing a lot of youth and young players breaking through to the first team. Recent social events have seen a great bond between all senior teams - men and women.
