DESPITE heavy overnight rain and thunderstorms, there was only a half hour delay in tee off times for the men's competition at the Glamorganshire Golf Club on Saturday.
With the forecast of further storms during the day not materialising, conditions were perfect for low scoring, with little wind, slow greens and some favourable tee positions.
As a result, 17players were better than par and the overall winner was Jon Bowles (nett 65). Second was Phil Grainger (nett 66) and third was second team captain Daryl Gardner (nett 67).
Best gross of the day went to club champion and newly-installed first team captain Jordan Price-Davies with an excellent 67, which included an eagle and three birdies.
Result: Jon Bowles(74-9-65), Phil Grainger (75-9-66), Darryl Gardner (72-5-67, on countback), John Ritter (76-9-67).
The next medal competition will be on Saturday, August 2.
