IN SWELTERING hot conditions Penarth and Dinas Runners took part in the Magor Marsh 10k over the weekend.
It was more a case of personal worsts than personal bests as the runners battled through the summer heat, but it was still an enjoyable race through the country lanes of Chepstow.
More than 200 runners took part in the race that started near Undy United Football Club, went through the country lanes, doubled back on itself, went out on a loop, then back to the start area again.
From a birds eye point of view the route resembled a lasso.
Gary Brown and Debbie Evans, who lead the men’s and women’s club championship respectively, were the star performers for Penarth and Dinas Runners.
Gary was 9th overall and 4th in his age category, while Debbie was 1st in her age category and took home a bottle of wine for her efforts.
