PENARTH and Dinas Runners took part in two wildly contrasting races over the weekend.

On Saturday several members from the club took part in the notoriously difficult 16mile Roman Run in Merthyr.

The mountainous run took place on a mix of road and trail routes, with several steep inclines.

Chris Nellins was the first Penarth runner to finish in 41st overall in 2.12.30.

Yvonne Williams was next up in 120th in 2.46.40.

Paul Whitmarsh followed in 150th in 3.09.07.

On Sunday Penarth joined nearly 3,000 runners taking part in the Cardiff 10k.

This year the traditional route was altered due to the Nato summit fencing around Bute Park, with a new route taking place in Roath Park.

Despite the new route the runners enjoyed glorious sunshine and some impressive times.

Ben Butler-Madden, in his first race for club, was the first Penarth runner to finish in 98th overall in 37.51.

John Fitzpatrick was next up in 40.17.

Richard Jackson-Hookins achieved 41.01.

Malcolm Bradley finished in 43.52.

Lisa Cleary and Andrea Hurman both crossed the finish line in 44.19.

Chris Pollock 46.29.

Ruth Owens 46.56.

Glenn Powell 47.58.

Lindsey Hunt 50.11.

Lyn Evans 50.43.

Danielle Rayner 51.53.

Kathryn Petersen 52.29.

Josh Davies 52.33.

Beverley Warburton also enjoyed a strong race.

Penarth and Dinas Runners meet every Monday evening at Penarth Leisure Centre at 7pm.
