DURING the past week, yet another double victory over Penarth Rectory Road in the Alliance and Les Heap Trophy, followed by a PG2 win against Barry Plastics, provided the precursor to the weekend Windsor Bowls Club championship. The icing on the cake of this wonderful weekend of bowls came as news filtered through from the all-Wales championships being held in Llandrindod Wells. This was that Emma Woodcock, wife of the afore-mentioned, newly crowned, Windsor men’s champion, had won the Welsh ladies’ singles title. This fantastic achievement means that Emma will now represent Penarth and Wales in the World Championships in Australia, next November. Well done and congratulations to Emma from all in the bowls fraternity, where the name Woodcock is held in the highest esteem.
