PENARTH and Dinas Runners were cheered on to personal bests in the Cardiff Half Marathon on the weekend.

Members of the club that weren’t running lined up at the Custom House roundabout by the Cardiff Bay Barrage, along the route, and at the finish line to cheer on their friends.

A record breaking 21,000 runners signed up for the race that has now become the second biggest half marathon in the UK.

the route started by Cardiff Castle, went up Penarth Road to Baron’s Court to Penarth, along Penarth Portway, over the barrage, around Cardiff Bay and Roath Park, before finishing outside the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

The race also formed part of the P&D Runners club championship, with members desperate to score points over their rivals.

Ben Butler-Madden was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line in a personal best of 1.22.51.

Both John Fitzpatrick and Richard Jackson-Hookins achieved 1.27.35.

Knill Baird-Murray finished with 1.29.35.

Andrew Palmer 1.32.26.

Chris Nellins 1.32.44.

Chris Herdman 1.34.35.

Andrea Human was the first Penarth runner to finish, with a personal best, of 1.34.51.

Malcolm Bradley also achieved a PB with 1.35.18.

Ian Warburton had a PB of 1.35.35.
