PENARTH U15s travelled to take on the Men of Gwent from Pontypool United with the game being quite evenly matched and contested from the start with both sets of forwards working tremendously well in ruck and maul. They showed a will to take on the opposite pack while the Penarth backs looked more dangerous when they ran the ball wide.

Penarth got on the score sheet after some great work in the loose, hassling the United backs saw Haaris charge down a kick for Niall to pounce on the loose ball over the try line. Ben Jones converted to make it 0 - 7. United were next to score after stealing a ball against the head at the scrum and spreading it wide with the Penarth backs still lying deep, managing to score out wide.

Some of Penarth were less than effective and United used their bulky number eight to good effect a number of times, once giving him the next try from 25 metres out, making the halftime score 12 - 7.

The second half was a lesson in strong running by United for Penarth, combined with some tired bodies and woeful tackling at times, United scored a number of unanswered tries through both their backs and forwards.

Penarth looked to release their back line, including Henry, Josh, Jack and debutant Ryan but had little space, marshalled by the United tacklers. Luc counter attacked well from fullback as always, and Ben J controlled his back line well.

The final score ended as 59 - 7 in Pontypool's favour. The final whistle was a welcome sound to all Penarth players and supporters after a hard battle, showing an improvement in decision making and commitment in the tackle area needed to be worked on in for future matches.

The Dame of the Game award went to Tom J for his sterling work in the tackle and jackal area in the first half.
