PENARTH Sea Cadets (TS Glamorgan) successfully competed in the South Wales District swimming competition.

A small squad of 11 cadets competed against other Sea Cadet Units at Ynysawdre Sports Centre, Bridgend on September 14.

Commanding Officer Lt. Harris and staff, who accompanied the cadets on the day, were extremely impressed by the hard work and team effort of all the team members.

Penarth Unit finished runners-up in both the junior and senior competitions. A very creditable performance, winning seven gold medals, pushed TS Glamorgan into 2nd place overall, despite competition from bigger teams. Some notable winners of their events were: OC (Ordinary Cadet) Hills, AC (Able Cadet) Jenkins and JSC (Junior Sea Cadet) Price all winning gold medals, whilst other team members gained valuable points to help the team achieve the runner-up positions.

OC Hills’ and AC Jenkins’ performances meant they were selected for the South Wales District team to compete in the South West Area competition at HMS Raleigh (Cornwall) on October 4. OC Hills won three gold medals and AC Jenkins won a silver and bronze medal in their respective events.
