THE Annual Open Competition for Penarth Sea Angling Club, sponsored by Admiral Insurance, took place on the pier and beach on Sunday.
First place went to Alistair Spiers from Penarth who caught two conger eels and two cod weighing 17lbs 15ozs and he took the £500 prize.
Second went to Rory Jenkins from the Rhondda who caught an 8lb 3oz conger eel.
Third was Chris Stephen from Porthcawl who caught a 7lb 12.5oz conger eel.
Fourth was Mike Mathers from Cardiff with a 7lb 10oz conger eel.
All were caught on the beach.
The junior winner was Owen Osmond with a 15oz silver eel and junior runner up was Owen Lane from Penarth with a 5oz silver eel.
This Sunday fishing is on the pier and beach.
