PENARTH FC Reserves have been using their new red and black kit, funded by the sides’ new local sponsor 'CF64 Building Services'.

The team has seen a dramatic change in performances recently. This is due to the transition from a team at the start of the season being very short on players and hardly any coaching structure into what now looks like a very promising squad aiming for promotion into the Vale Senior Division One league.

After the first six games under the previous manager, Penarth Town lost five and were rock bottom of the table with a mere three points. But since then all the players, the new managers Rob Jones and Simon Humphries have worked hard and gelled together, the transition is near complete and after 13 games they have climbed up to fifth in the league. In just seven games they have accumulated 18 out of a possible 21 points. That's six wins out of seven for the ever improving team.

The managers know the league title is out of reach now and that all great runs come to an end. They don't expect to keep winning, but one thing they now know is that they've got a good side challenging for promotion, players on form challenging for first team selection and the managers are already looking into ways to improve the side for next season.

Both the first and second teams play their home matches at Cwrt-y-Vil Playing fields (Old Pens Rugby Club). The club would appreciate any support so please come and watch on Saturdays at 2pm.

The club are also looking for any potential major sponsors for next season. Please contact Bob Stansfield via email at bob.stansfield@hotmail.com or feel free to talk to any of the managers on match days if interested.
