A CARDIFF and Vale College Rugby Academy player was selected to represent the Welsh Academicals in their game against Llandovery on Wednesday, November 26.

Hooker Dan Watts from Dinas Powys, 16, was given the prestigious honour to play for the ‘Accies’, a WRU affiliated team where students have represented Wales in tournaments such as the Hong Kong 7s. Dan was one of two players chosen.

CAVC Director of Rugby, Martyn Fowler, said; “Gaining selection for the Welsh Academicals is a real honour for our players and it’s testament to the progression they have made since joining the CAVC Rugby Academy in September.

“The ‘Accies’ have a strong record of identifying emerging talent from college, university and community rugby and I’m confident that both Dan Watts and Mike Wallis are names that we’ll be hearing a lot more of in the future.”
