PENARTH Town Seconds took on Cardiff Airport Seconds in the Vale 2nd Division last week, playing away.

Airport settled first and started to take control of the game with some good passing and movement.

About halfway through the first half Airport put in a hopeful cross from the left hand side, it was at an awkward height and seemed as if it might actually just drop in. Josh Todd in the Penarth goal managed to get a hand to it to keep it out but it just dropped in the six yard box. Tristan Davies managed a half clearance only for the Airport's striker to dash in and finish it, giving the home-side the early lead.

This just seemed to motivate the Town players with Jonney Williams and Ryan Williams in the centre taking control.

They in turn fed Awes Osman and Scott Willett in the wide areas. This pressure saw Penarth earn a corner which Willett whipped in, the Airport ‘keeper came for it but could not hold on and as the ball dropped Wes Howells tapped in to level the scores. All even at the break.

In the second half Airport again started the stronger and began to built pressure.

Penarth's back four of Davies, Simon Humphries, Ryan Bright and Richard Brace stood firm and absorbed everything thrown at them.

Todd looked solid in goal and commanded his area well. Soon after Town began to get back into their stride and again applied pressure down the flanks. This in turn led to them being awarded another corner, this time on the left hand side.

Again it was whipped in by Willett, over the Airport ‘keeper to the back post where Nathan O'Malia took full advantage heading in strongly to give the visitors the lead. This really gave Town a boost and they started to really knock the ball about with confidence.

One of these moves saw five or six crisp passes terminate with Willett on the right hand side from where he banged the ball in from a tight angle.

Town brought on fresh legs in the form of Rhys Owen and Alex Le Blancq which helped them to continue to control the game and as it drew to a close, Airport started to tire badly.

They conceded another corner which Willett took, the Airport ‘keeper fumbled again and the ball dropped in to give Town their fourth.

A very fine effort from the Penarth players, coming back from behind and in the end running out good winners. Their next game will be at home next Saturday against Cadoxton Barry.
