A DINAS POWYS man fulfilled every football fan’s dream by gracing the hallowed turf of Wembley.

Andrew Ford works for Johnstone’s Paint and was selected in a random employee draw to take part in a special Johnstone’s Sixes match, less than 90 minutes before the main event between Bristol City and Walsall at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, March 22.

The players were split into two teams for the right to be crowned Johnstone’s Sixes winners. The team names, Aqua Athletic and FC 125 Johnstone’s, reflected one of Johnstone’s best selling products and the fact that the brand is celebrating 125 years in paint respectively.

FC 125 Johnstone’s won the match 4-2 after charging into an early 3-0 lead.

Andrew, a 51-year-old territory manager, said: “It was an amazing experience. I play local five-a-side but never thought I would have the chance to run out at Wembley.

“We were fearing a cricket score at 3-0 but we weathered the storm.”

Ben Wilde, brand and sponsorship manager for Johnstone’s Paint, said: “We were delighted to be able to offer our dedicated staff the unique opportunity to play on the hallowed turf at Wembley, which is something most professional footballers can only ever dream of.

“The Johnstone’s Sixes was, once again, a really enjoyable part of Final day. Our staff got into the spirit of things both on and off the pitch, creating some fantastic memories that will last a lifetime.”

Johnstone’s Paint has been bringing colour to the beautiful game by sponsoring the Football League Trophy for nine seasons.
