BATTLING gale force winds and torrential rain Penarth runners tackled several races over the weekend.

There was no respite for the hardy runners, as they took part in the Ponty Reverse 10, Llanelli 20 and Forest of Dean Half Marathon.

Two brave souls even ran an additional 12 miles after taking part in the Ponty Reverse 10 to round up their day’s mileage to 22 miles as part of their London Marathon training.

For the Penarth runners the Ponty Reverse also formed part of the club championship, with points at stake in nearly all of the respective age categories.

Richard Jackson-Hookins was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line as he achieved a personal best, finishing an impressive 7th overall in the process, with a time of 1.03.25.

Ian Warburton was next up in 22nd in 1.12.25.

Debbie Evans was not far behind as she finished 3rd in her age category and 6th lady overall in 1.13.28.

Chris Nellins was breathing down her neck in 1.13.58.

Andrea Hurman was the second P&D lady home in 1.15.36.

Josh Davies ran at consistent 7.41 minute miling to finish in 1.17.04.

Lisa Cleary was less than a minute behind in 1.17.50.

Malcolm Bradley was hot on her heels in 1.18.53.

Danielle Rayner stormed through the race to finish in 1.25.12.

Beverley Warburton pushed herself to the limit to finish in 1.26.15.

Rebecca Williams, in her debut race for the club, finished in 1.35.18.

Jenny Tincombe was next up in 1.37.00.

A strong contingent of Penarth runners also battled the elements in the Llanelli 20 mile race on Sunday.

Steve Goodfellow was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line as he sneaked under three hours in 2.59.35.

Lindsey Hunt was next in 3.05.11.

Yvonne Williams was not far behind in 3.06.06.

Mandy Barrington achieved 3.15.53.

Andrea Goodfellow 3.24.36.

Penarth runners also tackled the gruelling hills and challenging terrain of the Forest of Dean Half Marathon.

Andy Jones was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line in 1.35.01.

Clem Clement was next up in 1.36.37.

Sarah Lees was the first woman from Penarth to finish in 2.00.49.

Janice Clement was next in 2.04.46.

Judith Maragna finished in 2.35.13.

Penarth and Dinas Runners meet every Monday evening at Penarth Leisure Centre at 7pm. Anyone is welcome to attend for a few sessions.
