PENARTH and Dinas Runners made the most of the Bank Holiday weekend by taking part in the Cardiff Bay 5.

For many of the club runners it was their first race back since taking part in their spring marathons.

Fresh off the back of the Manchester and London marathons, where numerous personal bests were achieved, they reverted back to a short and sharp five mile race over the Cardiff Bay Barrage and back.

With the race not starting until 11am the sun had enough time to come out for almost perfect conditions.

The race, which has grown massively in recent years, faced a slightly altered route this year starting and finishing in the basin area.

For the Penarth runners there was also the added incentive of club championship points on offer, as they vied for their age category titles.

Ben Butler-Madden was the first Penarth runner to cross the finish line, just 21 seconds short of his PB, in 30.08.

Jonathan Salisbury was next up in 31.35.

Clem Clement was 33.29.

Just three seconds behind was Andrew Frayling in 33.32.

Rob Wilcox followed in 34.50.

Glenn Powell, fresh from his first marathon in Llanelli, was 35.09.

Chris Seal was 35.29.

Chris Economides was 36.19.

Louise Hunt was the first Penarth woman to finish in 36.50.

Andrea Hurman was not far behind in 37.06.

Josh Davies was 37.20.

Chris Pollock was 38.17.

Mark Taylor was just one second behind in 38.18.

Steve Goodfellow was 38.33.

Tim Monckton, in his first race for the club, was 40.17.

Amanda Lynch was 40.37.

Danielle Rayner 40.58.

Kathryn Peterson 41.38.

Yvonne Williams 41.56.

Mandy Barrington 42.06.

Tania Miranda 42.42.
