PENARTH Yacht Club will be holding an Open Day on Saturday, May 16, from noon until 5pm.

This thriving modern club is situated on the east facing promenade in Penarth, about five miles south of Cardiff on the Bristol Channel.

Established in 1880, the club was originally called Penarth Boat Club but was renamed in 1895.

From its beginning the club has gone from strength to strength and is now an established part of Penarth’s history.

The club combines sailing and rowing with a lively social atmosphere and many events happening throughout the year.

Rowing takes place on the sea in coastal boats and in Cardiff Bay in fine boats. Training takes place all year round and is currently developing some high-calibre male and female competitors.

Penarth Yacht Club is an approved RYA training school and delivers training for all ages and levels of ability. For competent sailors there is a healthy racing schedule that includes Enterprise, Laser and Feva classes or even cruisers.
