RESIDENTS of Penarth are set to benefit from a town-wide push to get more children and adults into tennis thanks to a joint project between Tennis Squad (Penarth Windsor LTC) and Vale Tennis Academy (Penarth LTC).

With support from Sport Wales and the Vale of Glamorgan Sports Development team, coaches from both clubs will be offering a series of drop-in sessions at community venues during the 2015-16 season with follow-up opportunities to join their local club.

The initial launch will see a series of weekly free ‘family play’ sessions on the courts at Penarth Recreation Ground (Lavernock Road). Running every Sunday 2-3pm, age-appropriate equipment will be provided along with a coach on hand to supervise activities.

As the summer season draws to a close, the project will move indoors to Penarth Leisure Centre (Andrew Road), with two free open days followed up with short courses in Mini Tennis for 10&U players, Tennis Xpress for beginner adults and Cardio Tennis fitness sessions for all ages.

The family play sessions begin Sunday, May 17, to book your place online for free, visit https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/ and click ‘Open Days’, or email info@tennissquad.net.
