THE Spartans' first 11 emulated their second team by going top of their league with a comfortable 141 run win over neighbours and local rivals Dinas Powys at the common on Saturday.
Batting first for a change, Shoiab 102 was the star batsmen as the Spartans rattled up 282 for eight in the allotted 40 overs with Sathish and Morgan unbeaten at the end.
In reply the star bowler was Vishal taking three wickets with Haaris and Kanishk taking two apiece and despite valiant efforts to take the last wicket the home side ended on 141 for nine.
The previous Tuesday the Spartans (124 for three) beat Highway Hurricanes (123 for five) by seven wickets to start their full toss campaign with a victory. Man of the match was Vijay hitting a splendid 42 not out.
The Vale midweek league game against Barry Athletic on Thursday was cancelled due to the heavy rain which carried on all day.
