VALE primary school pupils took part in the newly formed Atomic Touch festival this month.
Atomic Touch is a new sport introduced as a way of encouraging more children to get involved with touch rugby. The sport is fast paced and has similarities to touch rugby, netball and ultimate frisbee.
More than 100 pupils turned out to try out the new sport developed by the Wales Touch Association, 90 of which were girls.
There were 10 primary schools who entered the event which saw pupils taking part in a range of skills sessions, before ending the day with a friendly tournament.
Nick, a teacher at Cadoxton Primary School, said: “The event was very successful and helped encourage girls to play sport who normally choose not to do any physical activity. The whole team really enjoyed the variety of the coaching sessions and playing matches against other schools.”
