WITH the summer holidays fast approaching, the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Sports and Play Development team have been busy planning their summer events programme.

In conjunction with town and community councils, the team will be running a programme of activities including play schemes, Play Ranger sessions, Family Fun Days and sports sessions.

The first play scheme of the summer, funded by Dinas Powys Community Council, will run from Murchfield Community Centre, Dinas Powys, from July 27 to 30.

Communities First will be supporting the play scheme at Holm View Leisure Centre from August 4 to 6, and from August 11 to 13 the play scheme will move to the Western Vale Integrated Children’s Centre in Llantwit Major, supported by Welsh Government Families First funding.

Communities First will support a second play scheme between August 18 and 20 at Jenner Park school, before moving to Ysgol Y Deri, Penarth from August 25 to 27, funded by Penarth Town Council.

All of the play scheme sessions are aimed at 4 to 11-year-olds and are delivered on an open access basis, running from 10.05am to 12pm and from 1.05pm to 3pm. Spaces do not need to be booked in advance, however registration forms will need to be completed on the first day of attendance.

Support has also been secured from the Disability Strand element of the Families First funding to accommodate disabled children or children who require additional support.
