DUE to inclement weather, the ladies of Windsor had only one game this past week.

The postponement of three other games also provided a headache for the scouts of the Welsh selectors, due to watch and assess the Windsor ‘gals’.

Nevertheless, under their captain Veronica Flitney, and with the adrenalin still running after their decimation of the Rectory Road ladies, Cadoxton of Barry were also defeated, albeit by just two shots and nine points won.

B Dunlop; A Hudson; L Thomas; K Dyer: 18-18

M Morgan; B Roberts; D Roper; M Owen: 19-18

Flying high in pole position at present in the Munro Cup table, the gents of Barry Plastics came to Windsor determined to put a dent in Windsor’s aspirations. On a green at its finest to date, the Windsor men were in no mood to allow such dreams and a crushing 56 shot victory saw 14 points accrued.

S Ellard; P Gooding; E Thorne; M Woodcock: 29-9

F Coleman; C Burton; P Gunter; T Holmes: 24-12

A Morgan; M Woodcock; M Hope; S Close: 19-9

M Matthews; R Flitney; R Hudson; K McLeod: 23-9

In the Thursday friendly against Penarth Athletic Club, substantial amounts of amber liquid followed Windsor’s comprehensive win and in the ‘Hugh Meddins’ triple trophy, a somewhat dubiously selected six await their fate as they wait to see if they qualify for the finals as one of the rest.

The PG2 game at Windsor saw the strong, and much fancied for honours, Cardiff Sophia Gardens do battle against captain Alun Daniels star-studded 16.

A quite magnificent match ensued, which went down to the very last end played. The fact that the visitors won by only one shot says much for the Windsor’s fighting spirit and team camaraderie.

T Warburton; D Brenton; A Dudley; D Davies: 6-22

T Evans; I Mathias; M Fullbrook; D Howells: 10-20

D Stafford; K Trenchard; M Cucciniello; AJ Hardess: 20-13

J Price; A Daniel; D Hales; M Lloyd-Jones: 19-11

The performances of the last two named rinks cannot be underestimated, they were superb.

Conversely, the PG1 team, away at Sophia Gardens, were swept away quite convincingly by a very strong bowling unit.

Three of the Windsor rinks were never able to get to grips with the superior bowling of the home side and never threatened to challenge for victory. However, saving Windsor from a whitewash, the captain's rink, after an early setback, fought tooth and nail and three shots on the final end gave Windsor two points.

M Matthews; F Coleman: R Flitney; K McLeod: 13-19

A Morgan; A Woodcock; P Morrish; M Hope: 11-27

S Ellard; HC Lewis; P Gunter; T Holmes: 10-23

B Rogers; P Gooding; E Thorne; R Hudson: 20-17

There will be changes.
