PENARTH and Dinas Runners enjoyed personal bests, age category records and prizes at the last of the SSAFA 5k race series.

It was a hugely successful night for the runners in what also formed a club championship fixture.

Gary Brown broke the 17minute barrier to achieve a new age category club record of 16.58; Andrea Hurman, Tim Monckton, Sarah Lees and Chris Seal all achieved personal bests; and Andrea Hurman and Cath Tailby were also presented with bottles of wine for winning their age categories on the night and over the race series.

Gary Brown, making a return to club championship racing after winning the title last season, was the first Penarth runner across the finish line in 16.58.

Richard Jackson-Hookins was next up in 17.17.

Ben Butler-Madden was on his shoulder in 17.22.

Clem Clement was 19.41.

Rob Wilcox was 19.44.

Chris Seal took more than 10 seconds off his PB to finish in 20.12.

Chris Nellins was 20.30.

Glenn Powell 20.58.

Cath Tailby was 21.04.

Paul Mitchell was 21.09.

Malcolm Bradley 21.23.

Andrea Hurman, earning a PB and post-race plaudits, was 21.42.

Mark Taylor was 22.12.

Ruth Owens was 22.17.

Louise Hunt was 22.25.

Tim Monckton was 23.00.

Sarah Lees, earning a PB, was 23.58.

Lindsey Hunt was 24.11.

Yvonne Williams was 24.54.

Tania Miranda was 25.48.

Judy Maragna was 29.04.

Over the weekend Judy Maragna also took part in her first duathlon, as she steps up her preparation for the Marathon du Medoc.

She took part in the Wye River Duathlon, comprising of a 1km swim in the river and 12k multi-terrain run in drizzly conditions, and finished as the 7th lady overall in 1.44.
