ON AUGUST 2 the Ladies Club Championship was held over 36 holes at Dinas Powis Golf Club between Ann Mahenthiralingam and Carolyn Jones.
After some great play Carolyn was six up after the morning 18 holes but during the afternoon round despite Ann gamely fighting back, Carolyn eventually won the championship on the 33rd hole. Congratulations to both ladies for a great day of golf.
Sue Bridle competed in the GUW Challenge Bowls (Silver Division) Final at Builth Wells on Tuesday, August 11 and came in with a 72 nett and was runner-up on countback winning the Silver Medal. Lady golfers from all over Wales take part in this competition so well done Sue.
On August 14 their Ping Team of Ann and Esh Mahenthiralingam, Lisa and Ian Ryley, and Pat Gosling and Dale Sullivan won the Regional Final at Creigiau against Woodlake Park. They now go to Rhuddlan Golf Club, North Wales, for the semi finals and finals to be played on October 5. Congratulations to all and good luck.
On August 3, the R H Seel Bowl Day One Medal was held:- 1st Annie Blackburn 93 - 21 = 72 nett after comeback, 2nd Maxine Hird 94 - 22 = 72, 3rd Sue Bridle 91 - 18 = 73.
On August 4, the R H Seel Bowl Day Two Medal was held:- 1st Maxine Hird 96 - 22 = 74 after countback, 2nd Sue Bridle 92 - 18 = 74, 3rd Vicki Ellison 106 - 29 = 77 on countback from Lisa Ryley 92 - 15 = 77.
Overall result :- 1st Maxine Hird 72 + 74 = 146 nett, 2nd Sue Bridle 73 + 74 = 147, 3rd Lisa Ryley 75 + 77 = 152.
On August 4 a nine hole Stableford was held:- 1st Angela Thomas, 2nd Terri Unwin.
On August 11, 18 Hole Stableford 1st Pat Gosling 35 points, 2nd Maxine Hird 33 points, 3rd Vicki Ellison 32 points on back six from Annie Blackburn and Ruth Yates.
On August 11, nine hole Stableford:- 1st Angela Thomas on back three from 2nd Audrey Harwood, 3rd Pam Warne.
On August 18, Mary Nicholls Foursomes:- 1st Sue Bridle and Maxine Hird 90 - 20 = 70 nett, 2nd Ann Mahenthiralingam and Vicki Ellison 97 - 21 = 76, 3rd Annie Blackburn and Ruth Yates 101 -22.5 = 78.5.
On August 18, nine hole Stableford 1st Terry Unwin, 2nd Rhian Thomas, 3rd Chris Nelms.
