DINAS Powys Golf Club held their annual presentation night in the newly refurbished Jubilee lounge last week.

The winners of the club competitions were presented with their respective cups and medals by 2014-15 captain Paul Evans. Most of the champions were there in person on a night of good humour and entertainment from Mark Thompson and Lucy Llewellyn.

Some outstanding performances were rewarded on the night which included a fourth club championship win in five years for Dale Sullivan.

Sullivan's brilliant record was broken a couple of years ago by Paul Davidson. However it was his son Luke who upstaged him this year bagging two cups.

The 10-handicapper will surely go on to bigger things in the future and the youngster was rightly proud when picking up his momentos with father and grandad Alan in attendance.

John O'Neill was also a recipient of two winners trophies in a pairs competition and an individual one. Martin Brennan was the champion in the final completion of the year The Autumn Tankard.

The captain spoke of the need to support the club socially and use the facilities regularly. The club president Derry Moore also highlighted his joy at presenting awards at an institution he has been a member for many years.

The Winter League season is now into its second month and with some exciting pairings the race to be crowned champions in April will be a tight run affair.

As always Messrs Berni and Wilson talk themselves up as prospective winners which unfortunately for members in the bar was vindicated with an eight and six victory over shattered opponents who did not wish to be named.

In similar fashion Ian Eidman and Martin Swensson will be hoping to go one better than last year when they were beaten by Mike Willis and Ritchie Mortimer.
