PENARTH Bowling Club’s Indoor season continued in winning vein on November 19 with victory on Wednesday over the visiting Pentyrch side.

The Pentyrch players put up a valiant showing in this match but the considerable home advantage enjoyed by the Rectory Road men eventually proved decisive with wins on all four rinks resulting from a very friendly match played in the very best of spirits.

Dave Clements appears to have laid the spectre of the “Marigold Gloves Trophy” (awarded to the worst performing four each week - with the added ignominy of having to do the post-match washing up) well and truly to rest as his star studded rink, which included no less than “The Two Phil's”, Davies and Davidge and the redoubtable Guy Thomas (That’s the one with the beard) stormed to a 31-8 success.

Also well to the fore was Bob Willmott, ably backed up by Berwyn Lansley, Tony Gent and Nick Thomas, with a 13 shot winning margin.

Not to be outdone Dave Dalby’s rink avoided the bottom rink tag with a four on the last end to condemn Bob Lewis and his compatriots to the kitchen chores, despite a respectable 17-11 win.

In the next two matches Penarth entertain Llantwit Major in a mixed fixture and Blaengarw for the mid-week game.
