ON SATURDAY, May 14, Penarth Lawn Tennis Club will be offering a free tennis extravaganza as part of the Lawn Tennis Association’s Great British Tennis Weekend.

The LTA have encouraged thousands of tennis clubs across the UK to open their doors and offer a range of sessions that are suitable for children and adults to try tennis for free.

Vale Tennis Academy, who are the coaching provider for PLTC, will be running the following free sessions; 9.30am to 10am – parent and tots tennis (three to four year olds); 10am to 11am – Mini Tennis (five to nine year olds); 10am to 10.45am – Cardio Tennis (a fun tennis-based fitness class for adults and children aged 14 years plus); 11am to noon – Junior Tennis (10 to 15 years) and 2pm to 4pm – Family Tennis (book a slot on one of their courts to have a game with your family or mix in and have a fun game of doubles with some of the adult and older junior members).

During the morning the PLTC kitchen will be open serving tea, coffee and breakfast rolls and in the afternoon the bar will be serving snacks and refreshments.

If spectating is more your sport then why not come along and soak up the atmosphere while the kids enjoy the new children’s play area or have a game on the mini tennis grass courts.

As part of the day members of the public can take advantage of a 10 per cent discount on new memberships to PLTC and 50 per cent off their first block of group coaching if they sign up on the day. Just pop along to the club and speak to one of the volunteers in their welcome marquee.

They expect the sessions to be busy throughout the whole day so it would be worth signing up in advance by visiting lta.org.uk/gbtw or call 07909 987359 for more information about the day, the coaching programme or joining PLTC.
