MURCH Bowling Club ladies section played an afternoon league match against Barry Central on May 12.

This was the only match to survive the extremely wet week. Barry Central ladies, unable to field a full complement of bowlers, found themselves under great pressure on two rinks, with their rink one players winning by a narrow margin in a well contested game.

However the overall score was very much in favour of the Murch players.

Rink 1: A Allan, G Hughes, A Crouch and skip C Tranter - Murch 11, Barry 12 and 3/4

Rink 2: A Orchard, A Croom, P Ayres and skip S Mauchline - Murch 30, Barry 14

Rink 3: J Garland, C Real, E Carryer (C) and skip M Clake - Murch 19, Barry 7 and 1/2

The next week Murch ladies entertained their Penarth neighbours, Windsor, in a closely contested match for their first meeting this season, losing by just two shots, winning one of the three rinks, with an overall score of 41 shots to 43.

Rink 1: S Wade, A Croom, P Ayres and skip S Mauchline - Murch 12, Windsor 17

Rink 2: J Garland, C Real, A Crouch and skip C Tranter - Murch 13, Windsor 14

Rink 3: C Russell, M Rice, E Carryer (C) and skip M Clake - Murch 16, Windsor 12

Murch met Windsor for a second meeting for an evening league match, with Murch playing away. Murch bowlers suffered a conclusive defeat of 18 shots giving Windsor ladies a comfortable win of 43 shots to 25.

Rink two managed to keep a close score for most of the game, but in this two rink game they could not cover the loss on rink one.

Rink 1: A Allen, A Croom, E Carryer (C) and skip C Tranter - Murch 7, Windsor 21

Rink 2: L Sandercott, G Hughes, S Mauchline and skip M Clake - Murch 18, Windsor 22

The ladies double rink match against Millwood was rearranged due to the bad weather.
