MACHYNYS Peninsula Golf Club, situated on the Loughor Estuary near Llanelli, was the venue for the Glamorganshire Golf Club ladies away day on May 25.

Winners on the day were Dr Thelma Tipping; Alison Smith, ladies captain; Jan Carling, vice captain and Jenny Rosser. Winner of the longest drive was Karen Blatchford and nearest the pin was Heather Atkin.

On May 18, the ladies held an Open Charity match which was well attended and £872.50 was raised for the Holme Tower Hospice. They wish to thank The Victorian Tea Rooms, The Queen Bee, and The Haven for supplying raffle prizes towards this cause.

First prize for the three ball alliance match went to J Berkeley, C Anthony, and Reeka Price from Bryn Meadows Golf Club with 82 points, beating the Tenby team of R Walters, J Stevens and A Thomas into second place with 77 points. Creigau Golf Club were third with 75 points and featured A Fernandes, B Griffith and S Jones.

Longest drive winner Dr Rhian Walters from Tenby and nearest the pin E Disley from Porthcawl.
