MORE than 190 primary pupils from across the Vale of Glamorgan took part in the Vale Primary Tennis Festival.

Held at three tennis clubs over three days, with 10 primary schools attending, the event was organised by Tennis Wales in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Sports Development Team, Vale Tennis Academy and coaches from Vale tennis clubs.

Evenlode, St Andrew’s, Dinas Powys and Fairfield Primary School’s braved the typically British weather to claim grand-slam victories.

In the competition for the youngest pupils - those from Year 3 - Dinas Powys Primary School won both the girls’ and mixed titles with Evenlode Primary School winning the boys’ title.

Evenlode also saw victories in the Year 5 and Year 6 age groups, winning the boys’ and mixed for both.

The Year 5 tournament saw victories for St Andrew’s in the girls’ event, while Fairfield won the girls’ title in the Year 6 festival.

The winners will progress onto the finals, held in Cardiff’s David Lloyd Club.
