THE second Great British Tennis Weekend (GBTW) is heading to Penarth on Saturday, July 16 to give visitors a taste of the sport.

People of all ages and abilities are being invited to join in, as Britain’s biggest summer of tennis heats up.

Organised by the Lawn Tennis Association and Tennis Wales, the free events are aimed at encouraging men, women and children of all backgrounds to enjoy playing one of the nation’s most loved sports with friends and family, no matter what their ability.

The weekends form the biggest public tennis event ever held in Britain.

Free tennis sessions will be held at Windsor LTC from 9.30am until 12.30pm.

The year’s first GBTW took place in May and was judged a huge success. Some GBTW events are taking place on other weekends too.

“Tennis is a game that anyone can play, regardless of age or ability,” said Peter Drew, chief executive of Tennis Wales.

“As we saw in May, Great British Tennis Weekends provide an opportunity for people to find out for themselves, as families and friends get together to try tennis for free in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.”

Many GBTW events include new formats such as cardio tennis, touch tennis, and mini tennis.
