WINDSOR Bowling Club's ladies section were left disappointed after their week of fixtures were cancelled due to bad weather.

But on Friday, August 5, the club took part in the first Rowland Owen Trophy.

The club hopes to make the competition an annual occasion to remember former Windsor member Rowland Owen. Rowland was a member for a number of years and was also the past captain and president and Moyra Owen arranged the competition between the ladies and men of the club in his memory.

The weather could not have been better as 56 members took part on Friday afternoon followed by a meal provided by Moyra.

The trophy was won by the men and the winning rink comprised of Reg Dyer, Ron Counsell, Dave Howells and skip Rod Hudson.

On August 3, the Windsor men played Llanbradach in the PG1. Despite losing by 76 shots to 107, Windsor won two rinks and claimed four points.
