TENNIS players from Penarth were among a number of players to win at the Welsh Tennis Championships.

Penarth Windsor's Eleanor Lewis won the Open Women's Doubles along with partner Emily Watson of James Alexander Barr Tennis Club. Conor Flynn from Windsor LTC Penarth won the 10 and under Boys Singles match against Swansea Tennis Centre's Kyle Pesario and Neirin Gilani and Felix Bockelmann-Evans, both from Windsor, took first and second place in the nine and under Boys Singles respectively.

Rounding off a great day for Penarth tennis was Archie Gray of Dinas Powys LTC who secured second place in the eight and under Boys Singles.

The event, held mainly at Cardiff Lawn Tennis Club and David Lloyd Cardiff, also included matches at Newport Tennis Centre and Cardiff House of Sport.

In all, 190 players took part in the competition, with events for eight-and-under to adults.

“This is one of the key events of the year in Welsh tennis,” said Tennis Wales chief executive, Peter Drew.

“The championships showcase leading players across the age groups, and the standard of competition is very high.

“It’s really inspiring to see such burgeoning talent on show.”
