Cowbridge Reds 1 - Dinas Powys Wolves 11

THE first away game of the season saw Dinas Powys Wolves travel to the furthest point in the Vale as they looked to continue their fine start on September 10.

After having missed the summer and a lot of pre-season the 'Villagers' were happy to see Callum Hewitson back into the squad following a massive knee op in May.

Cowbridge Reds showed some great defending early on as Dinas struggled to find the break through. On 20 minutes though Hewitson had other ideas, he slotted home at the back post. Jake Lewis moving into midfield added the second moments later with a fine half volley.

Joe Doughty back from illness made it three as he smashed home an unstoppable volley from a Kyle Booker corner. Rian Thomas then scored the fourth right on the break as he showed quality movement and out paced the Cowbridge defence to finish from 15 yards.

The display from the visitors was as complete as you could wish as they moved the ball very well and showed why they are a very talented bunch. Connor O'Brien and Bayley Harewood linked up well on the right creating plenty of chances. On the left Harrison Kelly and Robson Mallam looked a true threat.

Kian Quest showed the other side to his game as his galloping runs caused the home side to back pedal.

In the second half, instead of switching off Dinas kept the tempo and style the same, as everyone wanted to get on the ball. Zac Fifield typified this more than anyone with a senior like display in the middle.

Jacob Moss, making a welcome return following illness and school trips, looked as if he had never been away, strong in the tackle and showed very good composure on the ball. Harewood, Booker and Thomas showed why speed is key to any team as they cut open the home side defence.

The back four with Jake Frost and Tylor Williams gave the team a great platform to play off.

Further goals from Rian Thomas and Callum Hewitson to complete their hat-tricks and goals from Bayley Harewood, Robson Mallam and Kyle Booker gave the visitors a comfortable win.

Well done Callum Hewitson a dream come back and man-of-the-match display.

Dinas Wolves 10 - AFC Rhoose 0

Dinas started very slowly with poor decision marking early on. Rhoose battled very well throughout the opening 35 minutes, throwing bodies in the way and defending with a real purpose. On the break the visitors looked like they could snatch a goal.

Going in at half-time only two goals up the home side listened to the advice offered and came out a much better looking team moving the ball with speed and quality.

Goals from Kyle Booker, Bayley Harewood (2), Kian Quest, Harrison Kelly, Conor O'Brien, Robson Mallam, Joe Doughty, and Rian Thomas (2) saw the home side run out 10 - 0 winners.
